George Ray Hammond, 69, of Greenville, husband of Sharon Hammond, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Ruby Hammond.

George attended Monaghan Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends and they loved him, and was especially adored by his grandkids. George loved working on engines and his 27 T-bucket hot rod along with his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was hardworking in anything he did. George was dedicated to helping others and never met a stranger.

In addition to his beloved wife of 50 years he is survived by son, George Scott Hammond (Casey); daughter, Virginia Cheryl Edge (Ken); grandchildren, Blakley, Edin, Autumn, and Grady; two sisters, Maggie Roach, Cynthia Lee Drummond; a brother, Bill Meade; and many beloved extended family members.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Julia Hammond and half-sister, Loretta Meade.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Monaghan Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Childrens’ Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or www.donate.lovetotherescue.org/give.
