Gerry Brown Glass, age 77 of Simpsonville, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 06, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Taylors, South Carolina followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with Dr. Ralph Carter officiating. Interment will follow the service at Graceland East Memorial Park, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 4999 Old Spartanburg Rd., Taylors, SC 29687.
Mrs. Glass was born February 17, 1946, at home, in Sumner County Tennessee, and raised in the Sulphura Community, to the late Olie B. Brown and Louise Kirkham Brown. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Christina Whitmire Glass, sister Glenda Brown Milliken, and brother, Rudy Brown. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James (Jim) Glass of Simpsonville, sons, James (Jimmy) Glass of Taylors, Jeffrey (Jeff) Glass (Ashley) of Hendersonville, TN and 3 grandchildren, Jarrett Glass, Lanie Glass and Jordan Glass.
Mrs. Glass graduated from Portland High School (‘64) and continued her education at Middle Tennessee State University. She went on to teach high school in the Houston County School System in Warner Robins Georgia for 2 years, while her husband was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. Afterwards, moving to Greenville, South Carolina and became a full-time homemaker and mother.
Mrs. Glass was a member of Edwards Road Baptist Church and Brushy Creek Baptist Church. She was a long-time member of the Dwight Heidingger class and served in several roles alongside her husband for the Merry Makers. She also was a prayer warrior and attended a meeting with other ladies every Tuesday morning for many years.
She loved her family dearly and would go above and beyond to make excellent meals and holidays feel extra special. She was known for her love of having a clean and tidy house, in addition to all things CLEMSON sports, traveling, cooking and collecting antique dishes. She was a dedicated and loving wife, a wonderful mother and the best Nana ever.
