Gloria D. Hendricks, 71, passed at home on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

Born in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius Hammett and Poinice Spencer Dearybury.

She graduated from J. L. Mann High School in 1969 and has resided in Greer since 1977.

Gloria retired from Greenville County Schools after ten years of service. She worked as a lunch lady at Woodland Elementary School and enjoyed seeing the students’ smiling faces each day.

She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.

Gloria’s family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of Providence Hospice and especially her son, Michael, for his continuous caretaking and support.

She is survived by her son, Charles Michael Hendricks; daughter, Stephanie Elaine Wistrom, and husband, Shay; and two adored grandchildren, Brody Owen and Parker Hammett Wistrom.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Gloria was always such a bright spot in my life, from Sunday Schools at Eastlan Baptist to a sister-in-law whom I cherished while she was married to Wayne. She was such a sweet and caring person, and I know her beloved family will miss her but will have comfort in the loving memories of their life together.

We are so sad to hear of Gloria's passing. She was a sweet lady that we had known for many years. Prayers are with her family and friends.
