Grant Wade Kirkbride, 27, died Monday, May 31, 2021.

Born in Edina, MN, he was the son of Clifford Kirkbride and Dana Johnson Kirkbride.

Grant enjoyed the great outdoors, art, animals, and had a huge love for life.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Taylor Kirkbride; grandmother, Patricia Johnson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his beloved dog Athena.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 05, 2021 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the memorial service at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel.

I didn't know Grant, but I just used his memorial disc golf disc in Oregon. His memory flies on.

Grant was my first crush in the 1st grade. All the other girls in our grade liked him too and they'd make me chase him at recess to corner him and ask him who he liked. I'd always be sad that he didn't say me but his sweet little smile made it okay. (In the 5th grade he liked me back, apparently. Which was satisfying, of course!) In high school, we ran in the same friend group. I remember one day in particular, I was super sad. He could tell immediately and asked me what was wrong. I burst into tears and he gave me a big hug. I remember just thinking about how he was truly always the smile you needed when you were down. We saw each other a few more times after graduating. Had I know they would be the last times I'd see him, I would have cherished them more. By no means am I the saddest or the most impacted by this loss. I'm just one of the very, very many who loved him. Felt the warmth of his smile. The infection of his laughter. The sweetness of his soul. I'll miss you, Grant. To know you was an honor. We have very fond memories of meeting Grant and hanging out with you and him on Taylor’s senior cruise trip. He had us smiling so many times. He was so sweet and kind. Many times we commented on how much we loved observing him. You all have are deepest condolences. Hugs❤️
