Harold Frederick Horton, 76, beloved husband of the late Laverne Owens Horton, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2022, surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Oak Ridge, TN, he was a son of the late Joffre and Zona Blackman Horton.
Harold was a graduate of Parker High School and earned his Bachelors degree at Eastern Kentucky University. He was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps, having served in Vietnam. Harold was a retired Senior Consultant Engineer with Factory Mutual International where he had over 25 years of service. Both he and his wife enjoyed photography, detailing all their escapades while traveling.
He was a member of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, playing saxophone for many years.
Survivors include a nephew, Wayne Horton, and his wife, Kathy, of Alaska; brother-in-law, Donald N. Owens, and his wife, Linda, of Piedmont; daughter in love, Tricia Finley, of Taylors; and numerous extended family.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Horton.
A Celebration of Harold’s life will be held Monday, August 15, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown with visitation following until 7:30 p.m. The Graveside Service will be Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 341 Jerry Gap Road, Clayton, GA 30525.
