To the Batson family. Harold meant so much to the Aiken family. Our mother would send his supper 2-3 nights per week while he was working at our community building. He would eat it while studying for classes at Furman. He coach me in basketball when I was 13 years old. He also taught me 2 children at Berea. I can honestly say he was the one of the nicest men I have ever met.

Condolences to the family. Coach Batson was such an incredible person. I can't recall a time of him never having a smile on his face. Years later I got to know him as "Hal" while delivering meals to Nanny Batson and he never missed an opportunity to thank us for visiting with her. Batson family, Thank You so very much for sharing Coach with us all.

It was a privilege to play Baseball for Coach Batson in 1969, his first year as Head Baseball Coach at Berea High. Many years later I would occasionally play golf with Coach in our Senior golf group "The Good Guys" Coach was truly one of the "good guys". Coach Batson also was Interim Principal at Travelers Rest High for several months where I was a teacher and coach. I have always admired and respected this good man.

Dear family, I was greatly saddened to learn that Harold had died. Harold and I met when we both accepted jobs at BHS. We became good friends soon after that. As fellow coaches, we share many memorable and fun experiences. He was a great human being, and I count my self lucky that our lives interacted in special way. You will be in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days. Buddy Jennings
