Helen Louise Wieler, 97, passed away on November 2, 2021 in Alexandria, VA.
She was born and raised in Northampton, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of the late Ignace and Anelia Lesko.
Helen worked at Westover Air Reserve Base where she met the love of her life, Walter H. Wieler. They had been married 45 years at his passing.
The couple moved to New Jersey where Helen worked for the Curtiss-Wright Corp. for several years. They then transferred to Thompsonville, CT where they started their family. In 1956, they moved to Cold Spring Harbor, NY, in 1974, they moved to Greenville, SC, and in 2009, Helen moved to Fredericksburg, VA.
Helen had a great sense of humor and enjoyed stimulating conversations and being around people. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, needlepoint, and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her loving family, including three children, Nancy Woodson of Springfield, VA, Barbara Dooley (Michael) of Fairfax Station, VA, and Jeffrey Wieler of Baltimore, MD; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Christine (James), Jack, Tommy, Charlie Whitaker, Stacey (Ryan), Jaxon and Connor Veazey, and Sierra and Serenity Dooley; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Edgar Lesko.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel of Graceland East Memorial Park, 2206 Woodruff Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29681 followed by the funeral service 11:00 a.m.
