Henry Burton Wells III

Henry Burton Wells III, 85, of 333 N. Homestead Road, died Monday, March 30, 2009. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Henry Burton Wells, Jr. and Mary Carter Wells. Mr. Wells served in the U.S. Air Force, attended Clemson College and graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Miami, FL. He retired from Singer Company and was a member of Pickens Presbyterian Church. Mr. Wells served in the Newberry and Pickens Fire Departments for over thirty years. He was a life member of NRA and an Eagle Scout. Surviving is his wife of sixty-four years, Deane Abbott Wells, of the home; three daughters, Mary Wells Trotter and husband Richard of Franklin, NC, Marsha Wells Lingle and husband James H. Sr. of Lake Murray, and Nanci Wells and husband Dr. Joseph J. Alderdice, Jr. of Cumming, GA; a sister, Louise Wells Mencken, of Thomson, GA; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Wells Shealy, Russell Burton Trotter, Justin Fulmer Lingle, James Hilton Lingle, Jr., Joseph James Alderdice III, Jessica Wells Alderdice, and John Christopher Alderdice; and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, Burton Wells Lingle. Visitation will be from 11:00 – 12:30 pm, Wednesday, April 1 in All Saints Hall at Pickens Presbyterian Church.
