Henry T. Cantrell, born April 24, 1938, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2020.

A graduate of Parker High School, class of 1956 and a retiree of Duke Energy. He was the President of Duke Retiree Clubs of both North and South Carolina Chapters as well as the Greenville Chapter. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and a former member of Monaghan Baptist, where he held several positions within the church. He served our country in the United States Navy from 1956-1959.

Henry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Mitchel S. Cantrell; two daughters, Dawn Williams (Tim) and Lynn Rogers (Dixon); four grandchildren, Brittany Hannon (Matt), Zack Williams (Emily), Clay and Austin Reeves; three great granddaughters, Braxton and Maddox Hannon, and Sawyer Williams; three step-grandchildren Maddie, Eleanor and Jed Rogers; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar C. and Thelma R. Cantrell; a sister, Maydelle Gebert; three brothers, Dan, Frank, and J.T. Cantrell.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm at Rock Springs Baptist Church Chapel, followed by the memorial service at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Henry to Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Rd, Easley, SC 29642, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Cancer Foundation at https://www.lls.org/.

The family will be at the residence.

Mitchel and family , our prayers are with you during the loss of Henry. He could make anyone laugh. Such a loving and caring man . I grew up with him and then worked at Duke Energy with him . He was a friend of my family and we know he is with our Savior now and all our loved ones . Rip my dear friend .

Jerry and I met Henry and Mitchell through Lynn many years ago. Lynn was a neighbor and Henry and Mitchell would visit. Henry would Eli over to the house on Saturday morning and have coffee and visit with us. A wonderful family man that loved his family, especially Mitchell and his girls. God has welcomed a wonderful angel and I’m sure Henry is telling everyone in heaven all about Mitchell, his girls and grandchildren. He will be missed by so any people but there will be another day that Henry will welcome all of his family and friends.

I have known Henry and Mitchell most of my life. Wonderful Christians and so dedicated to our Lord.Thinking and praying for your family.....

I remember Henry Cantrell when I worked at Duke Power, Lakewood Substation. He was such a positive force with a hearty laugh. Praying for his family, for peace and comfort.

I have seen Henry on and off for the last 40 years, always smiling and a kind word. You will be missed, RIP. MIKE RICHARDSON

I will always remember Henry's laugh. He was a dear friend to me and I consider it a blessing to have known him as a childhood friend. He was always there to cheer you up and was always laughing. I send my condolences to the family.

I remember Henry very well from being a young person at Monaghan Baptist Church. Henry took time to work with all of us, giving unselfishly of his time and energy. Many times, Christians wonder if their work with missions and young people actually made a difference in the lives of those around them. With Henry, I can say a definite "yes!". Many of the young men at Monaghan went into ministry, teaching, and other areas of service. I've taught in public school for 40 years, and worked with young people in church for over 35 years. I've always tried to show love, enthusiasm, and energy. Henry set a wonderful example for me in each of these. My prayers go out to all of you as you grieve.

Mitchel & Family, I am so sorry to hear of Henry's passing. The Duke Energy group have shared some great times together. He will surely be missed. Remembering all of you in my prayers.

Henry Cantrell was a remarkable man who loved the Lord, family, and friends. He was always smiling and congenial. Remember Henry running 5 miles or more daily on the street. He was always the same smiling and happy guy. He will be missed at Rock Springs Baptist Church in the Seekers Bible Fellowship Class. Our love and compassion to his family whom he loved dearly.

We will miss seeing Henry in our Sunday School class. Always so friendly & smiling. Will never forget him laughing so hard at one of our class get togethers.

Mitchell, I still have the picture of me after having been in your wedding to my "Unka Henwy." He was moms baby brother and she always had stories to tell about him and I always enjoyed hearing them.
I am so sorry for your loss. 2 Corinthians 1:34 tells of the comfort God offers...and Revelation 21:4 assures us of a time when there will be no more mourning. I hold that hope in my heart just as I do my memories of Henry.
May God hold you all in the palm of his mighty hand and offer you strength and courage.

Our hearts are saddened by the news of Henry's death. Our thoughts and prayers will be with the family during this difficult time. I worked with Henry for many years at Duke and since our retirement, have enjoyed our monthly breakfast meetings at Tommy's Ham House. Also, I had the opportunity to work with Henry for the Duke Retirement Club since retiring. We have many pleasant memories. He was a very talented and caring person, always willing to lend a helping hand and will be missed greatly.
