After reading Kim's message, Sherry and I both thought she was spot on and it brought smiles to our faces. Everyone enjoyed being around Herbert because of his funny stories and ability to make people smile an laugh. I'd even heard the one about him walking in circles, and I've only been a part of the family for 18 years. I was blessed to have been able to know Rex and Grandma as well. Our hearts go out to you, Judy. We know you loved Herbert because he always made you laugh as well. Hang onto the happy times and never forget them. Today is Thanksgiving. Be thankful for the wonderful time you had with Herbert. I know you'll miss him.

Judy so sorry to hear about Herbert. He was a wonderful christian and sweet man. I am so glad I got to know him while yall were members of my church. The most rewarding part was having him for my Sunday School Teacher. I learned so much more about the Bible from Herbert teaching. I know you will miss him dearly and so will all his family and friends. My prayers and love is with you during this difficult time. May the Lord comfort and easy your broken heart. I am always here if you need me. You are a wonderful friend also. Just think of all the wonderful memories you have to remember Herbert with. You and Herbert were the perfect couple that lived and witnessed for Jesus.

I have heard my uncle Ode desribe my grandfather as the 2nd wisest man to walk the earth, second only to king Solomon. I have heard father say many times "Hubert" could find the perfect angle to shine a flash light in your eyes from anywhere under a car hood. Poppop's idea to send a picture of himself as a birthday present was nothing short of comedic genius. I will miss your kindness, your love, your guidance and most of all your sense of humor. We love and miss our Poppop.

So, many of my childhood memories are filled with loving and always funny stories shared by my creative Uncle Herbert. I never will forget the stories of Aunt Judy setting his shoes out for him in the mornings so he wouldn't walk in circles all day long because his shoes were on the wrong feet. As a young child I was perplexed how he was able to see the Easter Bunny when traveling to Grandma's house on Easter morning but I always seemed to have just missed him. Uncle Herbert mesmerized me when he told a story and his eyes seemed to twinkle when he was getting to the "thickest" part of his story. No doubt in Heaven there is celebration and plenty of laughter!!! and yes I will bring you a bag of pine needles when I come!!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I sure do miss you Pop Pop! No one will ever tell stories as good as you, and make us shake our heads listening to the adventure you had just doing yard work. You are a true inspiration for everyone! A man of God and family! I love you so much and hope that heaven is celebrating the most interesting, beautiful, funny, and sweetest angel it could ever gain!
