Homer Hearin Hall, 90, of Greenville, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 28, 2020.

Born in Greenville, SC, on Oct. 5,1929, he was married for over 50 years to Betty Griffin Hall who preceded him in death.

Homer was a dedicated member for many years of Berea First Baptist Church and then in later years served at Berea Heights Baptist Church. In both churches he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, and many other capacities with adults and children. He retired as Cost Manager after working for over 40 years at JP Stevens. He was a faithful volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Homer loved his family and his church. He once said,"The Christian Church has the answer for our troubled world. Jesus prayed in the garden 'Not My will but Thine be done'. This is my prayer for myself and my church to seek God's will and do what God says. God can heal our world and churches."

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Elizabeth Hall McKinney (Gary), Charles Hall (Kay), Nancy Hall Rolen (Tom); grandchildren, David McKinney, Steven McKinney, Ashley Hall Belknap, Elena Rolen Black, and Hannah Rolen Lineberger; eight great grandchildren; brother, Bobby Hall (Dell); sister, Ann Hall Lowery (Tom); and many nieces and nephews.

Waiting to meet him in heaven are his parents Lawson and Alma McCallum Hall; brothers Claude, Roy, and L.A. Hall; sisters Lucille Watson and Ola Mae Satterfield.

A Funeral Service will be Sunday, May 31, 2020, at 1:30 PM in the Northwest Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Seating will be limited to allow for proper social distancing.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Spring Park Assisted Living of Travelers Rest and to Regency Hospice for their excellent care of Mr. Hall.

I didn’t know Homer had passed. I worked with Homer for many years at JP Stevens. I was very young and impressionable back then. He was a role model for us. I am sitting on my back porch working on a project and remembered how Homer could work up a very detailed cost and analysis with a pencil, paper and calculator. No one can do that now as everyone relies on a computer program (with no idea what goes into it). The world needs more Homers.....a great Christian man, great businessman and family man.

My husband and I loved Homer he was a dear friend to us. Homer was always a joy to be around, he came to our house on Christmas for several years. Loved corn bread and chatting with Ted while he freid the turkey. He didn't get to come last year and we sure missed him. But he will forever be in our hearts. Praying for the family at this difficult time. Remember, Homer is not only in our past, he is also in our furure.
