Hubert Rainey, 91 devoted husband of 66 years to the late Shirley V. Rainey, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Greenville, SC he was the son of the late Crawford H. and Elba Brookshire Rainey.
Hubert met the love of his life, Shirley, on a blind date and knew immediately that they would get married and spend the rest of their lives together. Shortly after they would start their loving family.
He was a truck driver for Standard Trucking Company and Bi-Lo for many years.
Hubert was a dedicated member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, “Pa Pa”, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.
His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his two beautiful daughters, Karen Gracely and Beth Rainey; two adoring grandchildren, Brooke Masters and husband, Nick, and Jared Gracely; eight precious great-grandchildren, Ellie, Abbi, Nathan, and Ryan Masters, London, Harper Jane, Knox, and Henry Gracely; his sister, Sue Crumley and several other loving family members.
In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Hubert was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steven Gracely; brother-in-law, Henry Crumley.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Mountain Creek Baptist Church followed by the funeral service to celebrate Hubert’s life at 2:00 p.m. officiated by The Reverend Bert Watts. Burial will be in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
