James Edward Johnson

J. Edward ?Ed? Johnson, 90, of Greenville passed away on May 2, 2004 at his home after a long illness. He served his country in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and was a lifetime member of the US Power Squadrons. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer for over 50 years. Ed retired as a Captain from Greenville City Fire Department in 1975. Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Christine Woolbright Johnson of the home; a son and daughter-in-law Johnny and Cindy Johnson of Greenville; a granddaughter Angie Knight and husband Chris, and their son Brett of Taylors; granddaughters Elizabeth Simister and friend Mike McCall, Kate Vanderhoef and husband Lee, all of Greenville; very special family friends for many years, Gloria and Mike Lepors and their children Jenny, Bradley, and Cody Lepors; and Ed and Christine?s family dog Ellie. Visitation will be held Monday from 6:30 ? 8:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12 Noon at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, with interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Greenville City Fire Dept. and The US Power Squadrons will be serving as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 120 Mauldin Rd., Greenville or Shriner?s Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville 29605. The family is at the residence.
