Gretchen Elizabeth Sellen left a message on July 4, 2021:
Oh how my mother Betty Green loved her brother Jim. She was so happy when he came out to Washington before she died in 1999. We had a wonderful time visiting with Uncle Jim up at Whidbey Island. For many in the Green family it was the first time meeting Uncle Jim. We all treasure that time and the compassion Jim showed our family during our time of loss. Our condolences and best wishes to all the O'Grady family during this time.
Anne Rivard Grupp left a message on July 4, 2021:
To the O’Grady clan: I send my deepest condolences on the death of Uncle Jim. I am sure the heavens are filled with joy now that Val and Agnes are once again surrounded by their children, and Aunt Eileen has her beloved Jim by her side again. My mother Anne loved her brother so dearly and we kids loved hearing her stories of the fun and laughter they shared all their lives. When the border with Canada reopens, Andy and I will make a pilgrimage to Long Beach and remember the O’Grady clan and how much joy they brought to this world. Love to all, Anne Rivard Grupp

My thoughts are with all my O'Grady cousins & families today, as we celebrate and cry tears of loss and of joy for knowing Jim O'Grady Sr. The video remembrance I watched today, July 3, brought a steady stream of tears and bursts of laughter. Paul Hylbert's remembrance also confirmed what we all knew, but, I am so glad he wrote about Uncle Jim's exceptional wit and humor, on the job. I will always think of Uncle Jim as so humble and such a family man.

Our condolences to your entire family. We wish we were able to be with you at this time but it is not possible. But we are thinking of you all and sharing our own wonderful memories of Uncle Jim. Love to you all. K
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Jim was a key part of the Wickes Lumber management team for many years. He was a brilliant marketing guy with an incredible wit. His design and delivery of our Project 150 marketing program are right up there with Seinfeld and The Office as examples of effective use of humor to deliver a message.
