Janet MacCallum, 63, wife of Kenneth MacCallum, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023.
Born in the United Kingdom, New Castle (Morpeth Community), she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Marjorie Owens Parker and graduated from Wade Hampton High School, Class of 1978.
Janet earned a degree in business from Greenville Technical College and spent several years working as an administrator with Food Equipment in Greer.
In March 1994, Janet married her high school classmate, Kenneth MacCallum, with whom she reconnected at her 15th class reunion.
She loved to spontaneously travel with her husband around the state and greatly enjoyed tandem cycling and camping along the Northeast Atlantic coast during the late 90s. Her sense of adventure was enviable and made life worth living.
Following a brain tumor, several strokes and a consistent decline in health, Janet’s final 14 years of life required skilled care and confinement. Throughout every challenge she endured, Janet was a survivor and remained strong, courageous, and pure of heart.
Janet was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she formerly taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs for the youth.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Riddle Duffy and her husband Jake; a grandson, Jackson; a brother, Steven Parker and his wife Lisa and their children, Samuel, Katherine-Anne, and Jackson.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 09, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. in the Parlor at First Presbyterian Church followed by the Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
