Jo Ann James, 82, wife of Kenneth James, died Thursday, November 9, 2023.
Born in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Columbus and Claudia Johnson Richardson.
Jo Ann was a faithful member of Berea First Baptist Church, where her commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life.
Jo Ann was a graduate of Erskine College. Throughout her career, Jo Ann served as an X-ray technician for over 40 years, demonstrating her commitment to the well-being of others. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her professional life as she devoted 12 plus years to caring for the elderly.
Jo Ann was known for her strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. As a devoted wife and mother, she exemplified the true meaning of love and commitment.
Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was immeasurable and unparalleled. Jo Ann’s love for the Lord was evident in everything she did, and her faith served as a guiding light for those around her.
Her legacy will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched. While she will be deeply missed, the memories of her love, strength, and kindness will never be forgotten.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by a son, Kenneth Jason James (Cassandra King); granddaughter Ashten B. Hickey (Jr); grandsons, Colby R. James, Aaron King, and Nicholas Silvaggio; great granddaughters, Kinsleigh and Brenleigh; sisters, Gerlee McCurley and Barbara Jordan (Don); brother, Frank Richardson (India); nephews, Scott McCurley, Eric McCurley, Jeff Jordan, and Adam Richardson; and niece, Lea Richardson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Kimberly Michelle James; and brother-in-law, Benny Frank McCurley.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Berea First Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
