I worked with John for so many years. He was such a kind man. He worked so hard. He always talked about his kids and was so very proud of them. The world is such a better place that he walked through it for awhile. My heart breaks for y'all. Praying God keeps his arms around you. Sandra Huggins

Dear Donna, Kelsey, and Andrew we are so sorry for your loss. I know how much John loved each of you. Andrew and Kelsey, he was so proud of both of you! Whether you were playing football or entering beauty pageants John was your biggest fan. Donna, you only had to see the two of you together to know how much he loved you. We are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Tump you came on this earth and made a big impression by being a kind, quite individual loved greatly by your wife, Donna, your children and your church family. You contributed to your church without seeking glory or praise. Your work on this earth is now done. Thanks for all that you did while here. Thanks for being you.

My heart hurts for your family's loss. John was very kind, especially the time we sat outside Cracker Barrel and he just smiled  and nodded as Gaby talked his ear off. I know he will be watching over you all with that same smile. ((Hugs))

"You're Bigger than the universe, You're Bigger than the sun and the stars, You're Bigger than the things, oh my, oh my that could tear us apart". Cousin John always gave me a loving hug and warm words of encouragement and thanks every time I sang that song in church. I loved singing it (in its' entirety)because it was one of my favorites as well. He didn't have to say anything but always acknowledged my need to know that I had touched someone's spirit every time I ministered through song. He didn't have to do that but he did because that was Just John's Way....and that meant so much to me! Kelsey, I am heartbroken over the passing of cousin Tump. I know the anguish you, our mom and Andrew are experiencing right now. But know that God's got you all cradled safely in His arms. Seek comfort in His bosom and know that earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Draw close to God's unchanging hand and cherish His blessing of extended time when man said there was nothing else they could do. God being God all by himself, strengthened your dad enough to walk you down the aisle of Holy Matrimony. Praise God in the midst of this storm that he chose you to come from our family's lineage. Our parents raised us to know Him for ourselves. Cousin John's loving way will truly be missed, but his loving heart lives on through the spiritual maturity he instilled in you and your family. Know that mom and I are here for you all in any capacity needed and don't hesitate to call, anytime. Love released for all of you Always.....

Uncle Tump, this is not a goodbye, but a Farewell. I will see you and all the others that have transitioned to Heaven again one day. I thought we would have you, the youngest and last of Grandmother’s children for a long time, however; God had a different plan. I can only imagine the celebration that is happening in Heaven now that you’re all together again. Praying for comfort and strength to our family at this time. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. They will help us to get through during this time and the years to come. I will miss you very much. I can just see God greeting you as you received your long white robe and crown as God said “job well done my son, Welcome home.” Rest well Uncle Tump. Love Always, your niece, Yvonne Benjamin.

Uncle Tump, we miss you more than words can say. Your kind smile and gentle spirit always lit up the room and made everyone around you feel so loved. I loved watching Little Annie Mae and Olive have so much fun with you. The smile on your faces and pure joy of those moments will be forever imprinted on my heart. Uncle Tump made such a strong impression on his nephew, my husband, John and helped shape the wonderful man, husband and father he is today.

My deepest sympathy to Aunt Donna, Kelsey and Andrew. I know Uncle Tump’s shining light will live on through you, and the many people who love Uncle Tump, every day. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Allison

Uncle Tump, I love you very much.  I was thrilled when you told me the story of racing the school bus on your bicycle.  I also was excited and proud to see you throw your left handed fastball in the local baseball league.  You are one of the uncles that got so much joy from doing things well, especially cutting the grass at super fast speeds.

Your love and compassion will always be missed.
Love you much.
