Johnny Earl Center, 80, affectionately known as “Papa”, of Greenville, beloved husband of Carol Ann Miller Center, died Monday, June 7, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the of the late Doc and Ellen Spake Center.
Johnny was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Bi-Lo as a butcher. During retirement he also worked at Fresh Family Meats. He attended Bethel Baptist and Truth Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son Todd Center, and his wife Leslie; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Thomas Center; sister, Jeanette Long; child of their heart, David Stoutenburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Wayne Center.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 11, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest followed by a funeral service at 12:00 o’clock noon in the Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
