Joni Lynn Rye, 58, of Greenville, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021.

Born in Macon, GA, she was the daughter of Mack Edwards (Brenda) and Mary Edwards Belcher (Devon).

Joni was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church. She was a photographer enthusiast who adored her family, friends and her cat, “Aristotle.”

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Jay Rye and his wife, Elizabeth; siblings, Mark Edwards, and his wife, Leigh Ann, and Dr. Christy Belcher.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Berea First Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Joni and I went to J.L. Mann together and I will always remember her as one of the kindest and most lovely people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. My sympathies and prayers to all of her family and friends. God’s blessings to you all.

So sorry for your loss! Joni was loved by many and will be missed greatly.

Joni and I became best buds the second we met in college. Even though we haven't been together in way too many years, she has always been in my heart. I love you Joni! Heaven gained a beautiful angel.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Once, we were so very close. We spent time together singing with our friends, with choirs and performing together on stage and sometimes just in the car - windows rolled down to no one. My life moved me away but you were always close in my thoughts and heart. God speed Joni.

Especially the beach trip last November to Jay and Beth's wedding...she was so happy.
