Joseph H. Murphree, 89, of Pickens, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Friday, March 17, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Westminster, SC, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mamie Harbin Murphree.
Joseph was a Veteran of the United States Army and Air Force, honorably discharged from both. He was a skilled carpenter and contractor for most of his life. He was an ordained minister and loved the KJV Bible. Joseph was passionate about helping people and spreading the love of Jesus.
Surviving are his children, Cynthia J. Campbell and her husband, David of Thomasville, NC, Jeffrey D. Hanks and his wife Cindi of Central, Donna H. Moore and her husband John of Ellenboro, NC; grandchildren, Aaron, Dustin, Gage, Donnie, Jr., and Conner; great-grandchildren, Porter, Brody, Blakley, Grayson, Luke, Kasen, Lilly, and Lillian; nephew, Johnny Boyd; and special neighbors, Kenny and Debbie McPeters and their sons, McKenley and Austen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two wives, Jean Smith Murphree and Darlene McAtee Murphree; daughters, Wendy Lou Murphree and Lori Leigh Murphree; his sister, Sarah Wilmon; and niece, Denise Vitale.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery West .
