Joseph “Joe” M. Duncan, 87, beloved husband of Doris Duncan since February 14, 1958, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
Born in Greenville, SC, on August 26, 1934, to the late Hiram and Jennie Mae Duncan.
Joe was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He was a 1952 graduate of Parker High School. After graduation, he began work for Hughes Real Estate designing homes. In 1955, he went to work for J.E. Sirrine Co. in the architectural department where he became a registered architect. Joe later retired in 1997 from HOK Architects in Greenville as Vice-President. After retirement, Joe and Doris enjoyed traveling extensively in their R.V. throughout the United States. In his spare time, he loved to fish. He was a man of great work ethic, family pride and dedication, and loved the Lord; his presence will be forever missed.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by sister-in-law, Nancy Duncan of Greenville; and nieces and nephews, Tammy Smith, Sherry King, Todd, Jimmy and Jerry Duncan; and numerous great nieces and nephews. By marriage, he was also survived by brother-in-law, Gary M. Turner of Opelika, AL; special niece, Vickie Adkins; nephew, Gerald Turner (Deborah); and great nephews, Trey Adkins (Hannah), Turner Adkins, and Anthony Turner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, W.L. “Larry”, Richard and Billy Duncan; and nephews, Bobby Duncan and Robert Adkins.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
