Joy “Dotsy” Dixon, 94, a devout Christian, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022.
Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Carl E. and Joy Carroll Dixon.
Dotsy was a 1944 graduate of Parker High School, and thereafter attended Furman University where she studied piano and music theory. Dotsy loved cheering on the Furman Paladins. She worked for Liberty Life Insurance, and later retired from JPS Dunean Textile after 44 years of service as an Administrative Secretary.
Dotsy was a member of Dunean Baptist Church since she became a Christian at the age of 12. She loved her church and church family, serving as church organist for over 50 years. Over the years, she taught children’s Sunday School classes, worked with the GA’s and served on various committees. Dotsy loved to give praise to her Lord and would sing in the church choir when possible.
She is survived by nieces, Katherine Dixon, Amanda Dixon and Karen Hughes (Michael); nephew, Stephen Dixon; and great niece, Carter Joy Roebuck.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Jean Hughes; brother, Jimmy Dixon; brother-in-law, Bob Hughes; and nephew, Curtis Hughes.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Dunean Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
