Judy Carol Ferguson, 78, of Greenville, SC, was healed on Friday, June 17, 2022, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, whom she loved and proclaimed during her lifetime.
Judy was born in Birmingham, AL, in 1943. She met her husband, A.D. “D.D.” Ferguson, Jr. in 1963, while both of them were working at McCullough Industries in Birmingham, AL. They married on October 25, 1963 and lived in many places in the southeast until ultimately moving to Greenville, SC, in 1977 to plant roots and raise their 3 children.
Judy started her career working at Allstate Insurance and State Farm Insurance. The last 20 years of her career she worked as the Church Administrator at Advent United Methodist Church in Simpsonville, SC. While at Advent, she also went on many Epiphany mission trips at the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, SC, ministering and sharing the gospel to teenage inmates.
Judy was a dedicated member of Lee Road Baptist Church where she poured her heart and soul into working with youth groups and planning/serving in over 20 mission trips at home and abroad, including multiple mission trips to Trinidad and Tobago to minister to school children, prisoners, and even those that needed vision care. She taught Sunday school, organized mission trips and Vacation Bible Schools, and volunteered in countless other capacities at church.
Her family was everything to her! If you knew her, you knew this! She enjoyed going on vacations with her family and, basically, any time she was able to spend with family. She was a constant prayer warrior for her husband, children, grandchildren, other family members, and friends. On Sundays after church, she enjoyed having all of her family for lunch which often included someone outside of the family that she invited over for lunch as well. Many of these guests became beloved “adopted” members of her family.
Her legacy will continue on in the hearts of her husband, A.D.; their three wonderful children, Michelle Hughes (Kip), Chris Ferguson (Megan), and Matt Ferguson; five adoring grandsons, Justin Huseby, Drew Huseby (Haley), Blake, Tyler, and Ryan Ferguson; and many other loving family members and friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Pauline Branch Posey; and sisters, Alma Reid (Cecil), and Mary McGill (Bill).
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 4:30 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. at Lee Road Baptist Church followed by the memorial service at 6:00 p.m. officiated by the Reverend Jason Kittrell, The Reverend Lynn Peden, and The Reverend Bryan Pittman.
