Kathryn Atkins Carter

Kathryn Atkins Carter, 96, of Greenville, beloved wife of the late Gordon Carlton Carter, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023.

Born in Georgia, she was the daughter of the late James and Lillie Brown Atkins.

Kathryn was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. She loved people and loved to laugh. Kathryn taught water aerobics until she was 83 years old. She loved the Lord, her church, and her family. Kathryn was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, but her legacy of love, laughter and faith will never be forgotten.

Kathryn is survived by daughters, Diane Carter Rowell (Jeff) and Nelda Carter Barrier; son, Gerald Gordon Carter (Rita); grandsons, Michael Carter (Megan) and David Carter (Tonya); and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with a visitation following until 5:00 p.m.
