Kenneth McClung Moore

Kenneth McClung Moore, 57, husband of Kathleen Moore, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at home surrounded by his family after a battle with kidney cancer. Born in Lexington, VA, he was the son of Ida Jean McDaniel Moore and the late Kenneth Moore, Sr.

Ken founded Global View Investments in 2004 where he could meld his background in finance and analytics with his desire to connect with people. Alongside his business partners, Global View grew to be one of the most respected and fastest growing wealth management firms in the Southeast. His principled nature guided his career, and he strived to provide transparent and genuine care for his clients. He loved his profession so much that he never wanted to retire himself.

Ken was a brilliant force of will and determination with a tremendous enthusiasm for life and learning. He had a curiosity about a wide array of topics, including quantum physics, Russian literature, politics, biological processes, and music. Beyond that, he had such zest in communicating everything he was learning with those he encountered, or on the Global View blog. Another passion of his was the outdoors and this connection with nature often led him to the mountains on foot or two wheels, or to his Saluda retreat where he appreciated the oneness of it all.

His passion for learning carried him through his battle with cancer, instilling abundant hope. He studied all the latest treatments and volunteered for a clinical trial at the National Institutes of Health. When he was too sick to do a lot of physical activity, he decided to apply his passions for music and life-long learning to take up the guitar. He appreciated “virtuosity” in music which to him meant original. Everyone that met Ken Moore knew he was truly an original himself.

Ken was devoted to his family and was married to his best friend, Kathleen, for thirty years. They met at James Madison University where he finished his undergraduate education following a four-year enlistment as a Russian Linguist in the US Air Force. He was stationed in Germany and that sparked an interest in learning other languages and cultures. The couple partnered through graduate school at University of South Carolina, overseas adventures, careers, and raising their family. Proud father to Allison (22) and Eric (19), he was always enthusiastic to support them in their interests and eager to share with anyone and everyone their latest accomplishments. He imparted compassion, a love of learning, and a will to be true to oneself to both of his children.

Ken also lives on through family and friends who have become family. He leaves his mother, Ida Jean McDaniel Moore of Natural Bridge, VA; his sister, Angela Moore of Moneta, VA; brother, Gary Moore (Whitney) of Roanoke, VA; brother Dwight Moore (Amy) of Buena Vista, VA; and, beloved nieces and nephews including Michael and Mark Kelly, Jeremiah Ruley, Logan and Aaron Moore; and Angelina Moore and Aubrey Moore. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Moses.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A celebration of Ken’s life will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Immediately after the service, Ken’s memory will be honored during a reception at 208 E. Earle St., Greenville, SC 29609.
