Lewis Eugene Smith

Lewis Eugene Smith, 87, husband of Rebecca Smith, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Walter and Lizzie Phillips Smith.

Lewis was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired in 2000 from Marshall & Williams Company after 47 years of service. Lewis was a kind, patient, talented man. Always helping others in the family and community. Loved by many, respected by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Smith; two daughters, Sherri Batson and her husband, Monty, Connie Loewer and her husband, Chris; son, Steven Smith and his wife, Jennifer; four granddaughters, Shannon Batson ,Caroline Loewer, Mary Cate Loewer, and Natalie Presley; three grandsons Clay Batson and his wife, Claire, Matthew Loewer, John Mark Presley; and sister, Hilda Downey.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Smith; two sisters, Shirley Campbell and Grace Mingus; two brothers, James and Ray Smith.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 a.m. at Rocky Creek Baptist Church followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m.. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.
