Lillian V. Hunter peacefully passed away April 28, 2022 after an extended illness that she courageously battled for over three years. Born June 4, 1939, in Spartanburg she was the daughter of Lindsey C. Vaughn Sr. and Agnes Vaughn. Lillian was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. After high school, Lillian attended Winthrop College graduating in 1961 with a BS in Elementary Education. After graduation, Lillian taught school in Rock Hill.
In 1962, Lillian and her husband of 60 years, Jerry, were married in Rock Hill. In 1966, they welcomed their son, Jerry Jr., into the world. From this time on Lillian focused her life on her husband and son and later her daughter-in-law and two grandsons.
Lillian lived for 25 years in Fort Mill, where she was active with her bridge club, the Red Cross Bloodmobile and her son’s school. In 1987, Lillian and Jerry relocated to Greenville, where they lived in Forrester Woods Estates. In 1999, they moved to Stonebrook Farm. Lillian was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church.
Lillian is survived by her husband, Jerry Evans Hunter Sr.; her son Jerry Evans Hunter Jr., her daughter-in-law, Kendell C. Hunter; and two grandsons that she dearly loved, Grayson Evans Hunter and Charles Thomas Hunter; sisters-in-law, Billie Vaughn of Fort Mill, Joanne Hunter of Lancaster; and three nieces, Christy Foster of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Melissa Lowe of Greensboro, NC and Ashley Bransfield of Chicago, IL.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Lindsey C. Vaughn Jr.
Her Family would like to thank her caregivers of the past year from Upstate Living Water and Interim Healthcare. She truly loved them and considered them her “family.”
A graveside service and celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
