Linda R. Goforth, 76, wife of the late Dexter Jolley, died Friday, March 11, 2022.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late William Woodrow Rowland, Sr. and Helen (Batson) Rowland.
Linda graduated from Parker High School, Class of 1964, and shortly thereafter made the acquaintance of Dexter Eugene Jolley, while he was serving in the US Army. The happy couple married in January of 1965 and were blessed with three children. After Dexter tragically died on October 4, 1976 as a result of a car accident, Linda became a single mother who never learned to drive and never held a job outside of her home. On the eve of his funeral, she and her three children were carried to Westville Baptist Church to worship as a grieving family. Linda remarried in 1982 and was blessed with two daughters. Linda was a loving and supportive mother who treasured her children and was a role model of strength and patience for her five children.
After spending the majority of her adult life working in her home raising her children, Linda worked for Goodwill for almost 20 years collecting donations to benefit families in the Upstate. She was a generous person who gave her time and talents to help others in need.
Linda’s memory is forever cherished in the hearts of her children, Eugene Jolley, Jr. and his wife, Lori, Crystal Williams and her husband, Craig, Eric Jolley and his wife, Crystal, Susan Goforth and her partner, Stacy Tukes, and Amber Goforth and her fiance, Will Austin; twelve grandchildren, Savannah Williams, Aubree Campbell and her husband, Drew, Abigail Goforth, Mackenzie Williams, Emma Jolley, Lorelai Jolley, Bryan Collier, Ryland Bradley, Will Jolley, A’alegra Tukes, Alyssa Collier, and Sabrina Jolley; a great-grandson, Keith Campbell; a brother and sister-in-law, Woody and Brenda Rowland; a nephew, Billy Rowland and niece, Staci Durst and their families.
