Lois Ann (Guptill) Goulart “Tookey”, 76, of Greenville, South Carolina, and formerly of Little Compton, Rhode Island, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
Lois was born January 25, 1945, to Samuel N. and Minnie (Woodman) Guptill in Bath, Maine.
Through courage and faith, she overcame many obstacles throughout her life; she was a self-proclaimed ‘survivor’. She wore many hats such as homemaker, professional cake decorator, owner of a housecleaning business, home health aide, and assembly worker at Taylor Box. She was also a founding member of the Little Compton Community Center and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she loved God, nature, and her pets. She loved creating new friendships and never met a stranger. Her wish for all were to love life to the fullest, stop and smell the roses, go out in nature, smell the ocean, be kind and loving to everyone, and last but not least, be part of the light by being the light to others.
She will be missed dearly and although she leaves an enormous hole in our lives, we know she is rejoicing with the lord.
Lois is survived by her brother, Bruce Bean (Rosalie); children, Richard J. Goulart, Thomas A. Goulart, Lisa Crain (Arthur Hernandez), Linda Goulart, Luanne Nevitt (David) and Lizbeth Bailey; fourteen grandchildren, Alex H. Goulart IV “Tiger”, Marcel Goulart, Rick Goulart, Chris Goulart, Stephen Hall, Justin Crain, Jacquelyn Walker, Samantha Spruill, James Powers, Amanda Powers, Zachary Carroll, Matheau Bailey, Sean Bailey and Joshua Rey; six great grandchildren, Elijah Hall, Imma Walker, Sasha Goulart, Aria Goulart, Cassius Goulart, and Victor Spruill; and one great-great grandchild, Dominic Hall.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Alexandre H. Goulart, Jr., her ex-husband, Joaquim “Jackie” Medeiros; two sons, Alexandre H. Goulart, III, and Peter E. Goulart; four sisters, Lorena Trask, Ruth Burke, Sandra Powell, and Martha Jane Jackson.
