Lorraine LaPointe Provost, longtime resident of Greenville, died on January 8, 2021 of pneumonia.

Lorrie was born in Hartford, Connecticut on October 6, 1936 and married for 63 years to the love of her life, Robert E. Provost, Sr.

In addition to her loving husband, she devoted her heart to keeping a warm, welcoming home and raising her family of five children. Lorrie is survived by her husband Bob; children Joanne P. Coggins (Richard), Bob, Jr. (Heathe), Thomas (Karen), Mary Beth Provost and Allyson P. Lewis-Popper (Jeff.) Her legacy includes grandchildren Laura (Thomas), David (Kendall), Emily, Jennifer, Aimee, Peter (Megan), Clare, Bernadette, Joseph, Paul, Francis, Mary Teresa, Sasha, Devlyn, Jackson and Payton. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Everley, Wyatt, Paxton, Fitz, Sunnie, Rosemary and Judah.

Lorrie was a licensed practical nurse prior to starting her family. She and Bob also impacted many lives through their local business, the Sportsclub.

Lorrie was a long-time member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. As a couple Lorrie and Bob ministered to married and engaged couples. They attended daily Mass and she was on the Eucharistic Adoration team.

Lorrie volunteered at Birthright of Greenville, enjoyed knitting hats for premature babies and also helped plant the beautiful gardens at Falls Park. Among her many interests, Lorrie was a Master Gardener who was happiest outside.

Lorrie was preceded in death by son Edward Robert and sister Peggy.

Due to Covid restrictions a private Funeral Mass and graveside service will be held.

I love that picture of your Mom. It captures her so well. My condolence to the entire Provost Family. I wish I could give each of you a hug to let you know the sorrow I feel about her passing; Youre all are in my prayers.

To the Family of Lorrie & Bob Provost - - I offer my sincere, heartfelt condolences to the Provost Family . . . I remember Lorrie as being so kind and compassionate . . . I was fortunate to work for Bob when he opened the Greenville Indoor Racquet Club at its inception and vividly remember Lorrie bringing her children to The Club during those years in the 1970's. Lorrie always had a tremendous smile and was so warm in her regards to others.

The world is indeed a better place because of the many positive attributes of Lorrie Provost.

I first met Lorrie in 2000 when I became part of “The Lunch Bunch”, a group of friends who had been meeting for lunch every week for many years. She was always smiling and full of stories about this group and what fun they had through the years. My favorite memory is a trip I made with her, Bob, and some others in this group to Italy. We started in Rome and then spent a week in a villa in Cortona where we visited many of the small towns in Tuscany. Then we went to Florence,Venice, and Lake Como. It was not just the places I saw but the people I was with that made it so special. Lorrie loved her family, her church, and her friends. It was a life well lived.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Provost family. Lorrie (and Bob) were a very important part of our lives through Engaged Encounter. They made us always feel like family. We understand the loss of a parent. We hope you can find comfort in the knowledge that she was a beautiful person inside and out and greatly influenced the lives of others in many ways.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Shalom, Thomas, Mary Beth and Bob I am saddened to hear of the passing of your Mother. Mrs. Provost was always so sweet to me and such a beautiful soul. I am praying for your family especially Bob Sr. At this time!!

Mary Beth, please know that I am thinking about you and am so sorry for your loss. I remember you mom fondly from our Girl Scout days.

Dear Provost family,
Lorrie was just a special person and taught me so much! As a young mother, she was both mentor and a friend. She opened her home to Mike and I and always treated us like family. I am saddened by your loss but confident she is in the presence of the Lord today and sharing memories with all those who have gone before us. Prayers for all the Provost family, especially Bob Sr, who was such a devoted husband. Wish I could attend the service but know you are in my thoughts and prayers today and in the coming days.

Very sorry to hear this. As a long time GRFC/Sportsclub employee, I was honored to be employed by and be associated with the Provost family.

My heart is broken but I know Lorrie is no longer suffering and is heaven. So many happy memories with Lorrie that I will never forget. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family. ️️
