Lucille Payne Darnell, 93, wife of the late Henry "Peanut" Darnell, died Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Florence Byers Payne.

Lucille was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. She was a loving Nana and enjoyed her church family.

She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Corley (Larry) and Donna Thomas(Richard); four grandchildren; Kyle Corley (Lorie), Cheryl Brister (Johnny), Brett Thomas (Kim) and Kristin Thomas (Kevin); four great grandchildren,Bailey Corley, Sydney Brister, Cooper Corley and Karson Hamilton.

In addition to her loving husband and parents she was preceded in death by siblings, James "Bill" Payne, Charlie Payne, Margaret Davis, Lila Whitfield and Louise Pearson.

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery West.
The family has requested those attending to follow the CDC guidelines on Social Distancing and Wearing a Mask.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Welcome Baptist Church, 2730 Anderson Rd., Greenville, SC 29611.

Dear Donna and Family, On behalf of Dick, Kay, Paul, Amy, Pam and Steve, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss. May Lucille rest in peace. Love the Groff family.

Aunt Lucille will always be remembered as a kind, considerate lady who was interested in your activities and how you were doing. She showed this by asking you about yourself and then listening to your response, giving you time to respond and then commenting about your response so you knew she listened to you.

Alton and I enjoyed every time we spent with Lucille we always took her something she loved bananas and chocolate candy. We loved her and she will be missed prayers for her family
