Margaret Ann Whitley Mann

Margaret Ann Whitley Mann, 87, wife of the late Thomas C. Mann Sr., MD of Greenville, died Sunday, April 24, 2022.

Born in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Eugene Whitley, MD and Lucille Kleckley Whitley. She was a member of Greenville First Baptist Church. Margaret grew up in Andrews. She attended Greenville Women’s College, which later became Furman University. She then attended MUSC College of Nursing where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She was famous for her fried chicken, homemade biscuits, and most of all, her pound cakes. Margaret loved the beach, especially Litchfield Beach.

Margaret and her husband enjoyed 65 years of marriage and had five children, Thomas C. Mann Jr., MD and wife Lisa, daughter Deborah M. Chini and husband Marc, Stephen F. Mann, Carol M. Leaphart and husband, Mark, Lisa M. Carpenter and husband David, all of Greenville. She is also survived by four brothers, William Whitley, Walter Whitley, James Whitley, and David Whitley; thirteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
