Poem to mom by daughter Jessica Houghton:
…faster, faster, there you go
running, can’t reach you
all the world spins for us
and right now, I just want
to stop and hear your voice
remember time is golden in truth
I can reach out beyond the sea
to a land of waterless trees
to a place of aging thrones
missing kings and queens
but it means nothing without you
do I know how to hear you
I do know, by the grace of God
I can hear you, I hear your
memories of you now rising up
singing in the car, laughing out loud
forever being kind, a listening ear
can I believe you’re gone, no
but I will play along until
I reach you again in heaven
imagine walking in that ocean
Mom,
Thank you for always being there for our family – for always praying for us, taking care of us, and loving us unconditionally. You will always be my angel in Heaven, and I will love you always.
Your loving son, Tate.
To my dear Marilyn, wife, sweetheart, companion, anchor, and best friend. No volume of words can express how deeply I love you and miss you. You were my rock, and you loved me unconditionally throughout all our years. Your presence will forever be embedded in my soul only a touch and whisper away.
Your loving husband
