Marion J. Spitzmiller, 82, entered Eternal Life peacefully at her home Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Born in Peru, IL, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Catherine Meyer Smith.

She lived in Summerville SC and raised her family there for nearly 40 years prior to moving to Simpsonville SC. She was an active member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church where you could often find her sharing her time and talents. She also volunteered and cared deeply for the missions of St.Vincent dePaul and Birthright.

Marion was known as a loyal friend of many and her favorite pastime was to spend time in conversation one on one with those she loved most.

She is survived by her seven children, Lori Reinneck (Gary), Mike Spitzmiller (Cathy), Jean Bagga (Bassam), Johnny Spitzmiller (Colleen), Amy Daus (Jeff), Billy Spitzmiller (Mandy), and Mary Jo Allen (Dave); 15 grandchildren, Samantha and Allyson Reinneck, Leigh Ann, Julie, Emily and Rachel Spitzmiller, Ferdaouis Bagga-Ross (Ryan) and Jalel Bagga, Baillee Williamson (Dan), Erik Daus (Meghan), George Daus (Kirsten), and Sarah Daus, Jameson and John Thomas Spitzmiller, and Kylie Allen; as well as 4 great grandchildren, Jordan, Avery, Tucker and Zayden; three sisters and one brother, Kay Lijewski, Ginny Mrowicki, Georgie Smith, Janet Diaz, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her beloved Kiki was her valiant protector and best friend.

The family would like to thank Marion’s caregivers at Interim Home Health and Hospice of the Upstate, especially her nurse, Lisa.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, September 19, 2022 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. All are invited to a reception in the Parish Center immediately following Mass.

Such fond and wonderful memories of Mrs. Spitzmiller. Always smiling and treating us like we were her own. Had some fantastic times at their house for parties and cookouts! We Always felt so welcomed. Love and prayers to the whole family. I know she will be missed.

What a beautiful video tribute to Marion, such a devoted mother and grandmother and great grandmother apparently. She was a dear friend to me in Summerville and I missed her when she moved upstate. She adored her family and was fortunate to be able to spend so much time sharing in their happiest occasions. She was truly blessed. My deepest condolences to all of the family. Sending My Prayers-and Love to one of My Favorite Families of All time!! I wish I could’ve been at the service to pay my respects and Hug everyone but I truly was unable to attend. I loved and respected Your Mother and always looked forward to running into her at church or out and sharing great conversations. She had a wonderful smile and always made me feel welcome at 225 Wilson Drive .. Even visited her at her condo in Legend Oaks. I’ll never forget her support and comfort when I became a young Mother. I have great memories along with my brothers at the Spitzmiller’s house from fish fries-to swimming or playing basketball with the homemade goal.. peach basket tied to a big Pine tree… I Used to come over and play school with Amy, and Jean was our teacher, a very serious teacher at that😜 learned to use the typewriter there too. I envied the “chores calendar chart” on the side of the refrigerator that Mrs. Spitzmiller had in place for her seven children. I used to think i needed to get my Mom on board with that for my brothers!!! Such Blessings are the Friendships made and Reflecting on these Special Memories of Life and Love Shared. I would like to offer my sincere condolences to all of Marion's family. It really was an honor to be one of her caregivers. We didn't know each other for long, but we were able to connect and I am thankful for that. I prayed for her and she prayed for me. We ate popcorn and watched 7th Heaven and she shared stories about her beloved family. May she rest peace in the arms of Jesus.

Karen and I are thinking of you in this time of sorrow. Although it is difficult to speak of consolation in the face of such a tremendous loss, we know the many wonderful memories will be of great comfort moving forward.

I had the pleasure of knowing Marian through our volunteer work at St. Mary Magdalene. She was sweet, kind and just lovely to be around. I will miss seeing her smile and the twinkle in her eye…

My Aunt Marion was such a special person to me. She help me through one of the most difficult times in my life when I lost my brother. I loved how she raise seven wonderful children. We will all miss her.

Marion was the person who ,during the pandemic,,showed me how to find things to do.. she and her daughters. Taught how to zoom. Being the religious family, they showed me how to pray to Jesus. Also how to play games. Wow, I ever knew a pandemic could be fun. Thanks to Marion and her daughters. Marion is in heaven. Will never forget my sister MARION.

Marion was such a wonderful and joy filled woman. She was my mentor when I joined St. Vincent de Paul at SMMCC. She was loved by everyone and had such compassion for all in need. Her smile filled her whole face. I was so blessed to know her.
