Mary “June” Gilstrap

Mary “June” Gilstrap, 90, wife of the late Clayton Gilstrap, passed away, July 16, 2022.

Born in Weaverville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Weaver and Ida Black Hunter.

June was a 1951 graduate of Parker High School and a long time resident of Greenville. June was a longtime and dedicated member of Brandon Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving her Lord. June loved cooking and sharing it with her family and friends. She took great pleasure in working in her yard and cultivating it’s beautification by collecting smooth river rocks to add to her flower beds.

Some of June’s best times were spent with her family, traveling and camping. She especially enjoyed taking a ride with her husband on his motorcycle. The biggest loves for June, was her Lord and Savior, her church and her precious family. She had a sweet loving spirit that will never be forgotten, but her memory will live on through her family and friends.

She is survived by son, Kimsey Gilstrap; daughter, Mary Norwood; granddaughter, Mary Beth Jones; great-granddaughters, Emily Hooper and Emma Norris.

In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Clayton Gilstrap, Jr.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery West.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brandon Baptist Church, 16 Calder Street, Greenville, SC 29611.
