Mary “Stewart” Kathleen Barton

Mary Kathleen Barton, 89, of Greenville, wife of John Harold Barton, died Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

Born in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel Dodson Stewart.

Kathleen was a member of Earle Street Baptist Church. She was actively involved with Clarice Wilson Garden Club and was an avid gardener. She was also involved with the Unit 51 Daughters of the Confederacy, Nathanael Greene Daughters of the American Revolution, Piedmont Chapter Daughters of the American Colonies, Reedy River XVIIth Century Society Colonial Dames, member of the Greenville Womens Club, charter member of the GFWC Greenville Women’s Club, and a Charter member GFWC Steel Magnolia Service Club.

She is survived by daughters, Kathy Barton Gerwig and Lee Ann Baker (Rembert); grandsons, J. Barton Gerwig (Tina Danik Gerwig), R. Zachary Baker; and great grandchildren, Mary Kathleen Gerwig and Charles Barton Gerwig.

The Graveside Service will be Monday, April 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Stone Church Cemetery, 101 Stone Circle, Clemson, SC 29631. All attendees are strongly encouraged to wear masks and follow CDC guidelines on social distancing.
