Mathew B. Sims, 38, husband of LeAnn Sims, died Friday, July 16, 2021.

Born in Oceanside, CA, he was the son of David and Rhonda Lipsmeyer Sims. Mathew graduated summa cum laude from Bob Jones University in 2005. He was the Editor-in-chief for a digital publishing company and had a passion for writing. He was an accomplished author and published several books.

Matt loved his family. He was an amazing father and shared a special relationship with each of his daughters. He and Maddy would stay up late and watch the Boston Celtics together; they had regular Saturday morning Costco dates. Claire shared his love of reading and books. And it was common knowledge that when Adele and Matt went to Target, she came home with a toy. He loved being a girl dad more than anything.

Matt was a member of Downtown Presbyterian Church. He was known for his sense of humor and generosity. He also enjoyed his bourbon collection. Matt always made Sunday afternoon lunches with family a priority. We will miss his cooking as he was a much better cook than any of us.

In addition to his wife of 16 years and his parents, he is survived by his three beautiful daughters, Claire, Maddy and Adele Sims; sister Melissa Kohler and her husband, Andrew; sister-in-law Sara Douglass and her husband, Philip; parents-in-law Larry and Charlotte Atwood; paternal grandmother, Delores Neely; nieces and nephews, Lani, Kai and Cade Kohler, and Ava and Vivianna Douglass; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Georgia Lipsmeyer and his paternal grandfather, Lyndale R Sims.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 24th at 3:00 at Monaghan Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to Let There Be Mom, 1200 Woodruff Rd Ste H13, Greenville, SC 29607.
