Michael Francis Radtke, 65, devoted husband of Luba Radtke, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022.
Born in Waconia, MN, he was a son of the late Francis Radtke and Odella Knott Radtke.
Michael was a beloved physical therapist for many years, most recently working for the Spartanburg Regional Hospital System. He loved his work. He was always reading and researching more about healing the body, and he liked the idea of being healed by the earth.
Michael also taught others to appreciate nature and enjoyed fishing (although he gave up ice fishing due to the cold), camping, history, John Deer tractors, and wood working. He found great reward in being efficient by growing his own food and making things. Danielle followed her father’s passion of nature and camping and now helps others find the joys of the outdoors as a financial business manager for a recreational vehicle business in the Seattle area.
He loved all people and never met a stranger – some would even say he was a social butterfly. He could talk to anyone, and people were drawn to him. Mike loved music and sang in the church choir, and he also played the concertina. He attended St. John of the Ladder Orthodox Church.
In addition to his wife of 18 years, his memory will continue on with his four children, Phillip Radtke, Danielle Radtke, Rachel Radtke, and Sasha Stine (Jacob); three precious grandchildren, Nicolette Radtke, and Katherine and Alexander Stine; siblings, Tom Radtke (Nancy), Teresa Gregory (Jerry), Amy Radtke, and Michele Deuhs; his beloved cat, Karen; and many other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mike was greeted in heaven by his first grandson, Hunter Gage Hamilton.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. Burial will be held in the family plot in MN will follow at a later date.
