Montaha Al-Tin Achi

Surrounded by her family, Montaha Al-Tin Achi passed away Friday, May 12, 2023.

Montaha was born in Zahle’, Lebanon on February 18, 1930, to Julia and Hanna Al-Tin.

In 1949 she married Elias Achi and moved to Damascus, Syria. They had four children together. Montaha devoted her entire life to her family, she was a loving mother and grandmother to her children and her grandchildren, she taught them the true meaning of kindness, selflessness and that family always comes first. She welcomed anyone and everyone into her home. Her greatest passion was cooking, gardening, and creating unforgettable moments with family and friends.

She was an active participant and member of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Damascus, Syria regularly participating in many pilgrimages and parish activities for several decades. For the past 12 years she has been a parishioner of St. Rafka Maronite Catholic Church in Greer, SC. Montaha was a devout Melkite Catholic.

Montaha is pre-deceased by her sister Josephine, Rose, Linda, George, Fouad, and Tony Al-Tin.

She is survived by her siblings John, Evelyn, and Michel Al-Tin. As well as Her children Afaf (Richard) Sleiman, Simpsonville, SC; George (Ezdehar) Achi, Damascus, Syria; Nabil (Nadia) Achi Taylors, SC; and Riad (Mouna) Achi, Greer, SC.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Pascale (Louay) Hanna, Paul Sleiman, Lama (George) Aazan, Tony Sleiman, Nouha (Elias) Khoury, Julia (Brian) Fridley, Roua (Youssef) Arbaji, Elias Achi, Yazan Achi, Bashar Achi; 10 great-grandchildren as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews in Lebanon, Syria, UAE, and the United States.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at St. Rafka Maronite Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.
