Morris Alvin Kelley

October 26, 1937 - April 22, 2020

Morris Alvin Kelley, 82, husband of the late Marguerite Switzer Kelley, died Wednesday, April 22, 2020.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland “GC” and Elizabeth Bayne Kelley.

Morris was a truck driver for Overnite Trucking Co. for 25 years. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Rockvale Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and golfing. He loved the Clemson Tigers and The Atlanta Braves.

He is survived by sons, William “Bill” Kelley and wife, Lynn, Dan Kelley and wife, Dawn, and Tim Kelley and wife, Kristy; brother, Chuck Kelley; sisters, Doris Davis and husband James, and Sarah Porter; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Shawnna, Bobby, Andrew, Aidan, Jacob, and Ashton; three great grandchildren John, Evie, and Sophia; and many nieces and nephews.

A private burial with immediate family only will be in Graceland West Cemetery on Monday, April 27, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockvale Baptist Church, 652 Old Grove Rd, Piedmont, SC 29673.

Morris was a devout Christian. Being Charismatic, he was full of the Holy Spirit. I had come to know Morris & his wife since 1984. He prayed for his church & lots of people. He prayed for me & my family. I will miss him. His sons & grand kids will be in my prayers.

Morris was full of wisdom and was a pillar at Rockvale in my teenage years there. When I was older, he and
Margurite kept the church going.
He even led the choir at one point. He was a good storyteller as well and could always make me laugh!
