Nina Hanahan Lucas 82, wife of the late Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas, Jr., passed away on April 11, 2020. They were married for 36 years before Emmett's death.

Born in Dothan, AL, she was the daughter of the late LaBruce Mortimer Hanahan and Daisy Pippin Hanahan. She attended both Stephens College and the University of Alabama.

Nina was an active member of Christ Church, Episcopal. Some of her many passions included the Order of St Luke (OSL) Healing Ministry and the Christ Church healing service, the Stephens Ministry, Cursillo (Lay Rector), weekly reunion group, the contemporary service choir, and EFM. Nina had a strong and faithful prayer life and participated in many Christian healing conferences over the years. She loved her annual trips to Pawley's Island with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children, Nina Brooks of Greenville, Emmett Lucas and wife, Lindsay, of Greenville, Margaret Loper and husband, Wayne Jr, of Atlanta, and LaBruce Lucas and wife, Stephanie, of Greenville; nine grandchildren; and her brother, LaBruce Mortimer Hanahan of Dothan, AL.

Due to Corona Virus restrictions, a private family service will be held at Christ Church with burial in the churchyard. A public memorial service to honor Nina will be held at Christ Church at a later date.

I would like to express my sadness and sympathy over the passing of Nina Lucas. For ten years - and probably more - Nina and I participated in the activities of a 20/20 Group at Christ Church Episcopal. About every three months we met at Nina's home. Her favorite meal was a chicken casserole. Her faithfulness to the teaching of Jesus Christ was an inspiration to me and to everyone in our group. - Clifford Gaddy

I was so sorry to hear about your mom. I remember with fondness the years your family lived at the top of the hill in Burdine Springs. Your mom and dad had such fun Epiphany celebrations. Even when your mom moved to Greenville, we kept in touch with Christmas card exchanges. Her cards always had a picture of her surrounded by her grandchildren. She was a beautiful lady.
