Patricia “Pat” Blackburn, 79, died peacefully Thursday, August 11, 2022, surrounded by family.
Pat was born in Milford, MA on May 7, 1943, to Theodore and Mary Muraski Fior. She married John “Jack” Blackburn on January 27, 1962, in Uxbridge, MA.
She began a life-long career in nursing with an Associate Degree in Nursing from New Hampshire Technical Institute in 1979, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1985, and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in 1987. Pat worked in several hospital settings, including as a certified family nurse practitioner at Greenville Memorial Medical Clinic from 1992 until her retirement in 2004.
Pat loved to give back to her community and help others. She was deeply devoted to her faith and was a member of The Church of the Redeemer. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting in her free time, talents which she used to express her love to family, friends, and those in need throughout her community. She sewed countless quilts for loved ones and the less fortunate, and crafted handmade clothing for dolls to donate to girls in local schools and hospitals. Her selflessness and compassion were felt by many.
In addition to her husband of 60 years, she is survived by her son, John “Jack” Blackburn, Jr. and wife, Susan, and their children, Gregory and Emily; her son, Glenn Blackburn and wife, Karen, and their children, Hannah and Zoe; and her son, Scott Blackburn and wife, Robin, and their children, Kenneth, and his wife Brianna, and Gregory; two great-grandchildren, Kane and Madison; as well as three sisters, Linda Creasia, Nancy Fior, and Cynthia Soucy; and two brothers, Theodore Fior, Jr. and Steven Fior.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Fior.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the Church of the Redeemer, 120 Mauldin Road, Greenville, SC 29605 with interment in the Garth immediately following. Friends are welcome to visit with the family prior to the service at 10:00 am.
