Patricia “Patty” Marie Merritt, 84, wife of the late Kimball Merritt, Jr., went to her heavenly home Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

Born in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bender Yates.

Mrs. Merritt was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting hats and scarves for so many at the St. Francis Cancer Center in Greenville. In the last year of her life, she brought a warm smile to patients and staff at NHC Greenville. She will be missed by many in the community.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Tench and husband, Richard, Sr.; and three grandchildren, Richard Tench, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Christina Tench, and Brandon Garvie.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Donna Merritt and Mary-Patricia Garvie. Patty is now reunited with her husband, daughters, and family in heaven.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. Masks are required in all Thomas McAfee Funeral Home locations and attendees are strongly encouraged to follow CDC guidelines on social distancing.
