Paul Luther Hester, 70, husband of Penny Hester, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Earl and Audrey Gunther Hester.

Paul retired after a 26 year career from the South Carolina Highway Patrol. He enjoyed driving, and the job he had of serving his state. He was a very intelligent man that loved any type of science fiction. He attended Trinity Point Church. His greatest joy came from his family and the love he had for them.

In addition to his loving wife of 50 years, Penny, he is survived by daughter, Robin Hester; brother, Daniel “Earl” Hester (Laura); sister, Christina Nelson; nieces, Beth Hester, Angel Driggers Yates (Jamey), Catrina Woodard, and Jennifer Wood; nephew, Daniel Hester; goddaughters, Olivia and Caroline Rampey; and godson, Travis McKinney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, brother and niece.

A visitation will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. in the Northwest Chapel. The family appreciates those attending to follow the CDC guidelines on Social Distancing and Wearing a Mask. A private family burial will follow.

Penny, I know it has been a while since Paul's death, I live in Georgia now and did not know until this morning. May God bless and keep you in his loving care. I do miss you

Paul was a very dear friend of mine. He would stop by the shop (Authorized Appliance Service) and visit when ever he could. If Paul had something to repair he knew we would take care of it. May God bless his family which he loves dearly and give them the peace that passes all understanding. Paul will surely be missed. Our thoughts and Prayers are with his family. I haven’t seen Paul for many many years, but he was joining the HP near the time I joined Greenville City PD. I was always impressed by his honesty, sharpness and his love of service to others. Great memories of a really Nice guy. Gone too soon.
