Randall R. Henry, 79, affectionately known as “Rockin Randall,” left this world on Monday, January 29, 2024, after his courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Randall was a man with an unbridled passion for music, and an infectious enthusiasm which earned him the moniker that resonated with all who knew him.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Clarence and Lillie Mae Henry.
Raised with a love for music, Randall spent much of his free time as a karaoke DJ, bringing joy and entertainment to countless gatherings. His charismatic personality and love for music created an atmosphere where everyone felt the rhythm of life.
For 41 wonderful years, Randall shared his life with the love of his life, Yvonne. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, a partnership that weathered the storms of life and celebrated its joys together. Randall’s commitment to family was unwavering, and he considered it his greatest privilege to be surrounded by the warmth of those he loved.
Never known to be a stranger, Randall had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went. He was a friend to many and had a reputation for his warm, heartfelt hugs that could brighten anyone’s day. His genuine and open nature endeared him to countless people.
Among his greatest joys was the simple pleasure of sitting on the porch, engaging in meaningful conversations with his family. Randall valued those moments of connection, finding fulfillment in the bonds he forged with his loved ones.
The beach held a special place in Randall’s heart, and he relished the times spent with his family, listening to the waves, and creating cherished memories. Dining out was another source of joy, where he could savor good food and good company, basking in the delight of shared moments.
Randall R. Henry’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and a harmonious spirit that touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his family, and the countless friends who were fortunate enough to know “Rockin Randall.”
His memory will forever be cherished by his daughter, Michelle Crenshaw (Tim); sons, Randall Douglas Henry (Marcie), and Jeffrey T. Henry (Lexie); grandchildren, Makenzie McGowens (Tony), Justen Crenshaw (Kelly), Chelsey Henry, Jacob Crenshaw (Bekah), Ryan Henry (Alyssa), and Josslyn Henry; and great grandsons, Henry Nole McGowens and Druer McGowens.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Henry.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will be held in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the residence of Randall.
