Rebecca Y. Hughey (Becky), 71, beloved wife of 47 years to Stephen Hughey, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2022.

Born and raised in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Elijah “Bob” and Grace Yarbray.

Becky was a strong Christian who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. As a graduate of Parker High School, she pursued a career with BellSouth for many years. She was known for her strong work ethic, professionalism, and sincere customer relationships. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Becky. She loved reading, spending time at the beach, and thinking of ways to make others smile. If anyone close to her experienced a hardship, she was quick to find a way to help. Becky never met a stranger and all who crossed her path received her generous, abundant, and consistent love. For Becky, her greatest blessing was her family, especially her grandchildren. She found it a privilege and honor to proudly proclaim the name, “Grand B”. She attended Newspring Church and enjoyed volunteering in the children’s ministry after retirement. Her memory and spirit will never be forgotten and her legacy of unconditional love will continue to live on through her loved ones.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her son, Kyle Hughey (Kristin); her four grandchildren, Lola, Greta, Foxx and Francie Hughey; and her brother, Buck Yarbray (Lynda).

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown.

Steve and Family, Words cannot express the sadness I feel for all of you at this difficult time. Becky was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed my so many. In the years before Becky married the love of her life (Steve Hughey) Becky, Sandra Gilreath, Linda Morgan and I (Lois Duncan Bryant) would go shopping, lunches and lake time for the girl time we so enjoyed. Becky was my son’s (Wesley Duncan) first love and at 4 years old, that truly was a big deal. He would sat close to her and watch her beautiful eyes, smile and true kindness she always showed him. I am forever grateful to have known her and call her a friend. Praying that all of you as you walk through life without her and drawing strength and comfort from our Lord Jesus Christ! ???????❤️

Steve, Kyle and family, I wish I could find the words to express the sorrow that I felt when I heard that Becky had passed. I did not know how very sick she was. I have known and been friends with Becky for many years. I appreciate her in many ways, one being, how she loved my brother Danny. She and Sandra B. Visited him when he was in the hospital in Atlanta after his heart transplant surgery. They encouraged him and prayed for him (I am sure you prayed for him also) and I am so grateful for that. I will never forget this dear, sweet lady. She was so kind to me and everyone that knew her. She will be missed. Prayers for your family.

Each of us at L's On Augusta are truly saddened by the news of Becky's passing. Becky has always been a treasured customer and joy to each of us and we have truly enjoyed her visits and friendship over the years. We were blessed to have known her and we will surely miss her, her smile and precious spirit. Our condolences and prayers are with her family and friends.

Steve and Kyle, words cannot express my sorrow for Becky’s passing. I loved her so much. She definitely was an angel walking among this earth. She was beautiful and had a smile for anyone. I know she is in a better place but for those left behind it is terrible. I am praying for your family.

Our heart is broken over the loss of dear sweet Becky. When Kristin married Kyle, not only did Becky become her mother - law, friend, and family, but she became part of Stanley and my family as well. Steve and her have been an important part of our lives and she is going to be missed. When my mom passed away, it was Becky and Steve who were there to aid in moving her things from nursing home. Every Christmas we all celebrate together as one big family, Becky and Steve claiming not only her grandchildren, but Ashleigh and her kids as well as Tr’s. What a special lady, always a smile on her face, ready to be a friend. You will never be forgotten dear lady. We love you and will miss you.

Steve and Family I share your heartbreak. My world was forever changed when we became friends and now it is again now that she is gone. It was such a comfort having her as my friend. We have shared so much through the years. I thought she would always be here if I needed her. No words to describe the void I know Steve, Kyle, and the grand babies she cherished will feel. I felt like I could tell her anything and it would be safe. She’s in heaven now and I find some peace knowing we will see each other again. I have been married to Becky's brother for 56 years, she has not been considered a sister-in-law for a long long time but a SISTER. My heart is broken. Buck is truly broken hearted over Becky's death. We are both assured of seeing her smiling face again one day. Prayers for Steve, Kyle, Kristin and Becky's beloved GRANDS.
