Reta Elaine Pittman, 76, beloved wife of the late Ralph Pittman, Sr., passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Born in Pelzer, SC, she was the cherished daughter of the late Charlie Bishop and Catherine and Glenn Forister.
Reta was a member of Brandon Baptist Church. She was a dedicated employee of Greenville County Schools, retiring after many years of service as a secretary. Reta’s love for beach music and shagging brought rhythm and warmth to her days, she and her husband, Ralph, had won many awards in competition for their shagging. She also found joy in the simple pleasures of life and had a passion for Clemson football, often cheering on her favorite team with unwavering enthusiasm.
Reta was a dedicated caregiver, both to her family and to animals. Her love for animals was evident in the way she cared for them. If you knew Reta, you knew she was known for her cooking; especially her biscuits. Reta always ensured a home-cooked meal for supper, creating a comforting and inviting atmosphere for those she held dear.
Reta’s humor was infectious, bringing laughter to those around her. She had a way of brightening even the darkest days with her lighthearted spirit. As a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Reta touched the lives of those around her with love and kindness.
Reta’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love her. She has now found peace and rejoined her Lord and precious husband, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and enduring love.
She is survived by son, Ralph Pittman, Jr. (Sherri); daughters, Robin Pittman McKellar (Tom) and Rhonda Pittman Holden (Scott); grandsons, Steven Gregory, Brandon McKellar (Hayley), Robbie McKellar (Hannah), Tripp Pittman (Emily), and Reid McKellar (Julia); numerous great grandchildren; sister, Debby Gore; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition of her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by grandson, Kellett Gregory; and granddaughter, Jenna Holden.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
