Rev. Clyde Elliott Wright, 85, of Greenville, husband of the late Hilda Ann King Wright passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Cardinal Wilsey and Effie Marie Bagwell Wright.
Rev. Wright pastored in Texas and South Carolina and retired after 27 years at Brandon Baptist Church. He was very involved in the Greenville Baptist Association, as well as the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Rev. Wright graduated from Greenville High School, Furman University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a member at Taylors First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught Bible studies.
He is survived by daughter, Paula W. Prince and her husband Keith; sister, Marilyn Bryant; brother, Wayne Wright and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Kamlyn Prince and her fiancé, Noah Banks, Kinley Prince and his wife, Ashley; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and loving wife of 56 years, he was preceded in death by brothers, Cardinal Wilsey "Buddy" Wight, Jr., William Charles "Bill" Wright, and Claude Rushton Wright.
Although no formal Receiving of Friends will be held, friends may pay their respects and leave notes of condolence to the family on Friday, November 27, 2020 from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A funeral service will be held Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Taylors First Baptist Church. Burial will be private. Friends are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines and to wear a mask.
