Reverend James Douglas “J.D.” Keenan, 84, husband of Betty Ann Keenan, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 29, 2017.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Ira Henry and Polly Ann Keenan.
Rev. Keenan served in the U.S. Air Force, was the owner and operator of Keenan’s Auto Service for 50 years, and was a member of First Christian Fellowship. He served as an evangelist throughout the Upstate and loved boating, fishing, and his pets.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Honea of Powdersville; two sons, Tony Keenan (Sylvia) of Simpsonville, and Mark Keenan of Greenville; two grandsons, David Keenan (Jeska), and Drew Honea (Katie); one sister, Evelyn Knight of Taylors. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends that he loved.
He was preceded in death all five of his brothers, Ira, Alvin, Henry, Theodore, and Jimmy Keenan.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 6 at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
