Ronald Edward Parker (“Ba”) was called home on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the age of 71. He left this world peacefully with his beloved wife of 35 years, Daisy, and their children by his side.
Ron was born November 21, 1951, to the late Tim and Irene Parker of Kingstree, SC.
He worked as an insurance agent at Farm Bureau. Ron had an amazing sense of humor and a beautiful laugh. He was kind, generous, and compassionate. He loved golf and enjoyed playing for many years. Ron enjoyed watching sports, especially the Gamecocks and he found joy in watching his sons play sports. Ron enjoyed going on adventures with his family and grandchildren, they were the light of his life. He loved his family dearly, including his four-legged best friend, “Pudge.”
Later in life, Ron volunteered at Paris Mountain Country Club where he continued sharing his love for golf with his sons. He also had a part-time job at Dollar General in Greenville, SC. It was a fun and happy place for him to spend his time. He was known there as the “candy man,” which was so fitting because he had a lifelong love of sweets. Ron will forever live in our hearts and as a family, we take comfort in knowing this isn’t goodbye, just farewell. We will be reunited again and what a joyous, beautiful day that will be.
In addition to his beloved wife, Daisy, he is survived by his sons, Eric, Ron II (Rebekah), Stuart (Kim), and Ben; his grandchildren, Parker, Daisy Elizabeth, Landon, Kennedy, Paige, Patience, and Kerysn (Jimmy); his great-grandchild, Rowan; multiple loved nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with a graveside service to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery West.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Travelers Rest United Methodist Church, 19 S. Main Street, Travelers Rest, SC 29690, http://www.trmethodist.net
